How it Started
Once I finally got a hangar for my 1963 Mooney M20C, it seemed to gain significant weight. Getting it up the incline and over the door rails and concrete lip by myself was possible but it wasn’t easy. I started looking at the available options for small GA tugs and was blown away by the cost. This led me to design and build my own and once it was done, I felt like I had something that I could sell at a more reasonable price to help other GA pilots with their ground handling. And so here we are.
Why Choose Us
I’m a pilot and airplane owner so I’ve designed this from the perspective of someone who uses it regularly. I’m lazy and everyone knows Mooney owners are frugal so, I’m dedicated to having an easy, simple and cost effective solution that’s reliable. Being lazy, while I’m willing to maintain things, I don’t want to waste time fixing them and I’m too frugal to be replacing failed parts constantly. Sure, I could make this out of carbon fiber and added a fancy worm drive system that’s completely enclosed inside the tow bar but, it’s not going to work any better and the weight savings probably won’t be enough to matter, especially for the cost that would be incurred in doing something like that.
If you like things that are easy to use, simply designed with few parts to fail and just work with simple maintenance (like inflating a tire), then this is the solution for you. If you’re looking for something ultra-refined or completely maintenance-free, this probably isn’t the right fit — and that’s OK.
This is designed for pilots who want practical solutions that work hard without breaking the bank. If that sounds like you, welcome aboard.
